Male betta not tending to the eggs

Saw the male laying on a leaf, looking very exhaust and maybe even a little upset. He seemed to be seeking shade and a break from the aquarium light; trying to catch a nap. I switched the aquarium lights off and gave him a little food. The nest is unattended and I do not see any life in it. This spawning attempt might not be successful, will wait another 24 hour to confirm.

Sad.

But as they are still young, try again! Rooting for you bro.

Lol, thanks Isaac, no one said breeding bettas is easy. Will try again in a week. This spawn is hard because I only have 1 pair of butterfly, no back up pair. So it's make or break.
